The staff and management team at Kidz Kabin work really hard to maintain and develop new information systems to keep a continuous flow of information between the nursery and parents:
Every child is assigned a key worker as a special point of comfort and contact during the nursery day. The key person will be available to chat informally to parents at appropriate times.
Information boards in reception display weekly menus, a monthly newsletter packed with all the latest updates as well as details of how to access the blog.
The Kidz Kabin blog is regularly updated and contains photos and descriptions of all the latest activities and outings that go on in and out of the nursery. Access it here.
Children’s profiles are created using tablets and a specially designed early years app called i-connect. This information is directly and securely accessible to parents via a ‘Parent Zone’ app. More information can be found on http://www.connectchildcare.co.uk/parent-zone.
We involve parents in the planning of the activities at the nursery by asking for feedback on their child’s progress at home. Parents are invited to come and chat to the keyworker at the end of their child’s ‘focussed week’ (roughly every 6 weeks)
We run information evenings on relevant early years topics as well as social evenings as a chance for parents to get to know each other better.
