Linda Symons BA (Hons) - Principal
Linda opened Kidz Kabin Pembroke Studios in September 2011 following 15 years in the Childcare industry. Over the years Linda’s drive and enthusiasm, focus on detail and desire to create an exciting and innovative environment for children has culminated in two successful nurseries in Muswell hill. Working closely with both staff and children, Linda ensures the Kidz Kabin ethos of recognising every child’s potential to achieve is supported and nurtured. Continually reinvesting in state of the art resources, Linda and her team offer children the very best start in learning through play. Linda’s background in human resources has provided her with the ability to engage skilfully with staff and parents alike. Recently qualified with a BA (Hons) in Professional Practice in Early Childhood Education Linda will be completing her PGC (Post Graduate Certificate) in Early Years later in 2016. Staff are also encouraged to engage in CPD (Continued Professional Development) and regular in-house training to further enhance their skills and understanding of Early Years.
Marketa Buonaiuto (Deputy – Level 5)
With over 8 years of experience at Kidz Kabin, Marketa is the nursery Deputy. Overseeing the day-to-day running of the setting, Marketa works closely with and supports Room Leaders in addition to coordinating staff training and development. Marketa completed her level 5 Early Years Management Diploma at the start of 2015.
Karen Wood (Admissions / Receptionist)
Karen is responsible for the administration at Kidz Kabin. A familiar face amongst the children and parents alike, she has been with Kidz Kabin from the opening of the current site and is always on hand to answer any questions.
Derrick Appiah-Kubi (Head Chef)
Derrick is responsible for all of the food at Kidz Kabin. A qualified Chef de Partie, Derrick has 15 years of experience, working in kitchens in England, Ghana, Sweden, Germany and Norway. Derrick is also an accomplished baker, sharing his skills with the children. In his spare time, Derrick supports Arsenal football club and enjoys spending time with his 4 children.
Anett Jona (Kitchen Assistant)
Anett assists Derrick in the kitchen, and also helps with the maintenance and upkeep of all areas of the nursery to ensure the children are able to access a safe environment. Anett also helps to keep the Kidz Kabin food page up to date on the blog to keep parents in the loop on all things food!”
Vjollca Alushi (Room Leader, Level 3)
Vjollca has amassed over 4 years of experience in Early Years and works in the blue room as Room Leader. Prior to working at Kidz Kabin, Vjollca gained a degree in financial maths and was teaching maths & ICT to older children in various colleges across London. She particularly enjoys planning stimulating activities and is motivated to enhance children’s learning by implementing creative teaching methods in conjunction with the EYFS criteria.”
Sharon Carvey - (Room Leader, Level 3)
A Mother and Grandmother, Sharon has worked in childcare for many years. She ran an after school club, worked with children with special needs and worked in a children’s home for 8 years. Sharon is practical, full of energy and enjoys playing outdoors, encouraging the children to be active and healthy.
Jolanta Pustelnik (Level 3)
Jolanta is a dedicated member of the team in the baby room and completed her level 3 in childcare whilst working at Kidz Kabin. Originally from Poland, Jolanta is a mother of one and worked as a nanny before joining Kidz Kabin. In her spare time she likes watching football and cookery. She has a sunny and easy-going nature that makes her ideal to care for the youngest participants in the Kidz Kabin community.
Ada joined the Blue Room team initially as a lunch time support as an introduction to working with children. After a successful induction to the team, Ada is now pursuing her level 3 qualification and working the afternoon session from Monday - Friday. Following in the footsteps of several of the Blue Room team who have completed the level 3 whilst working at Kidz Kabin, we look forward to supporting Ada as she works towards her qualification. Ada has a confident and bright personality, contributing a motivational attitude.
Sian Greene (Level 3 Childcare Diploma).
With a decade of experience in childcare, Sian has a demonstrable passion for Early Years having worked in a Montessori setting since leaving college and gaining her Level 3 qualification. With an excellent understanding of the needs of young children, a positive and enthusiastic nature, Sian is a welcome addition to the Blue Room.
Having moved from her native Romania 6 years ago to join a North London family as a live-in nanny for 2 school-aged children, Gabi moved to work with a second family 2 years ago, caring for two children under 2. Now looking to formalise her knowledge, Gabi is beginning the Level 3 Early Years Educator course at the end of 2016, under the careful guidance of the experienced Blue Room team. Naturally gentle and a genuine enthusiasm to expand her knowledge, Gabi is an excellent addition to Kidz Kabin.
Originally from Hungary, Edina has gained a wide range of experience in Early Years for the last 6 years including as a private nanny to babies and toddlers as well as for an agency providing cover for nurseries across North London. Her adaptability, coupled with her naturally positive attitude is well suited to Blue Room, where she has quickly become a valued member of the team since she started in Autumn 2016. Following in the footsteps of many staff in the room, Edina will shortly begin her Level 3 Early Years Educator training to cement her knowledge and understanding of the EYFS.
Anita Bordas (QTS)
A fully qualified teacher for the whole Early Years spectrum, Anita joined the Kidz Kabin team following her successful completion of the summer recruitment morning held at the nursery. Expanding on her experience gained in her native Hungary, Anita demonstrated a wonderful enthusiasm to work with the younger age group, where her gentle and calm demeanour is well received by children, staff and parents alike.
Leanne Elcoate (Level 3, Room Leader)
Leanne has worked in nurseries and been responsible for liaising with parents, setting up interesting activities and working to develop children’s next steps. She loves working with small children and enjoys watching their progress. Leanne’s extrovert personality and enthusiasm for her work creates a stimulating environment for the children she works with. Leanne completed her degree in Youth Justice at Middlesex University in August 2014.
Charlotte Gadd (Level 3, Room Leader, SENCO)
Originally a dance teacher for children aged 3 to 16, Charlotte decided to use her natural ability to connect with children by working in a nursery setting full time in 2010 in Leeds. Having completed her level 3 in Childcare in August 2013, Charlotte moved to London and joined Kidz Kabin. Her organised and motivating attitude contributes brilliantly to the Kidz Kabin ethos. Charlotte has also taken on the SENCO role from the Summer of 2016.
Helen Georgiou (Diploma in Preschool Practice)
Helen has been working with children for over 20 years, and draws on her wealth of experience to be an excellent role model for the younger members of staff, including her own daughter Stephanie. She has held deputy posts in the past, bringing a calm and controlled influence to the 2-3 years room. She has a creative flare, often helping to bring the room to life through innovative displays.
Stephanie completed her NVQ Level 3 in childcare in June 2014 having worked as an apprentice at Kidz Kabin for the last 1 year. With a solid understanding of the most up to date practices that underpin child development combined with a natural warmth popular with the toddler group and their parents, Stephanie continues to be an integral part of the Yellow Room team
Shopna Chowdhury (Level 3)
Shopna’s calm and caring nature is put to very good use engaging with our 2-3 year olds. She holds teaching assistant levels two and three. Prior to joining Kidz Kabin, Shopna was a teaching assistant in a primary school for eight years. She has four children of her own.
Krystyna brings a wealth of experience to Kidz Kabin. After spending 32 years working as a head teacher of a school for chronically ill and special needs children from the ages of nursery to primary school in Poland, she moved to London where she was a nanny for 8 years. Along with her practical experience, Krystyna has a degree in Pedagogy from the University of Warsaw, an MA in Pedagogy for Disabled Children and speaks Polish, English, Russian and German. In her spare time, Krystyna enjoys expanding her knowledge of child psychology through reading various books and articles and in amongst it all, is a seasoned dinner party hostess!
Cassius Freeman (Level 3)
From a family who work in various aspects of childcare and Early Education, Cassius followed suit and has now been working with children for just over 3 years. Having completed his level 2 in 2012 and level 3 in 2014, Cassius has a passion for teaching young children and watching their development to school age. In his spare time, he enjoys pursuing his interest in media with successful projects in photography and video direction.
Jaimi Marsand (Level 3)
Jaimi joined Kidz Kabin in Winter 2014 to take on the role of Room Leader. Originally from Kent, Jaimi is a natural leader having become a red-cap as a junior, taking care of the infants in school, progressing to a prefect in her early years of secondary school and ultimately taking the role of Deputy Head Girl. Jaimi established her interest in the Early Years at school, studying childcare at GCSE level. Since leaving school, she has continued to pursue a long term career in the industry which has so far seen her complete her Level 3 Diploma whilst working at a nursery in Islington for over 7 years, progressing from nursery practioner to Room Leader and Foundation Stage Coordinator. Approachable and enthusiastic, Jaimi is passionate about being involved in the dynamic learning experience of young children. Jaimi is currently on leave awaiting the arrival of her new baby.
Tessa Gray (Level 3 in Childcare Diploma (CACHE)}
Originally working as temporary supply staff for Kidz Kabin, Tessa soon built up an excellent rapport with the children and when a full time position became available, was quick to fill the vacancy. Now working in the afternoons in the Yellow Room on a permanent basis, Tessa is a welcome addition to the team with her positive outlook and patient approach.
Zyulbie Yusein (QTS)
Originally from Bulgaria, Zyulbie has over 10 years experience working with children. Since moving to England in 2011, Zyulbie has worked in a variety of settings across London through an agency in addition to a permanent role in Hornsey. Moving to Kidz Kabin in October 2015, Zyulbie brings her gentle and calm character to the Yellow Room. With Qualified Teacher Status, (QTS) from Bulgaria, Zyulbie is now also studying her Level 3 in Childcare in order to gain a deeper understanding of the Early Years set up in England. In her spare time, Zyulbie enjoys spending time with her family and knitting.
Stephanie Fahey (BA Early Childhood Studies)
With 7 years’ experience working with toddlers and pre-schoolers in Ireland, Australia and the UK, Stephanie joined Kidz Kabin in 2013. Stephanie was seconded to Kidz Kabin @Fortismere for its opening in September 2015, where she utilised her experience to help establish the Kidz Kabin ethos. With Fortismere now fully up and running, Stephanie has returned to Pembroke Studios to continue her excellent work in the Yellow Room. In her spare time, she enjoys keeping fit through cycling and yoga.
Caroline Reed (Room Leader, Level 3) -
Caroline is a dedicated, warm and enthusiastic individual whose ability to engage with every child at their own level helps to form a close bond with her key children. Caroline had previously completed a course in childminding but felt she would excel in a nursery environment. Prior to working with children, Caroline managed a busy veterinary practice. Her excellent interpersonal skills are evident in communication with parents and other members of staff. Caroline completed her NVQ Level 3 in Childcare in June 2014.
Sylwia Lipska Room Leader (Level 3)
Sylwia has worked as a nanny for 5 years and realised how much she enjoyed child development when she cared for her young nephew. Sylwia is gentle, fun and engages well with the youngest children, helping them to develop new interests and areas of learning. Whilst working full time at Kidz Kabin, Slywia completed her Level 3 at the start of 2014.
Joy Park -
(First Class BA and Masters Degree in Early Years Education.)
Joy is committed to creating an environment that inspires children and fosters a love of learning. She has an excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and is therefore able to enhance children’s learning experiences to the full. Joy can empathise with children and is therefore able to intervene in children’s learning experiences at the right moment. Joy shares the role of room leader and is an inspiring member of our team.
Alana joined Kidz Kabin originally as a lunch time helper but has since joined the Green Room team full time as she works towards her PGCE qualification. With a 3 year old son of her own, she brings a good understanding of the needs and interests of the preschool age group. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and keeping active through swimming and sports.
Silvia Buga (QTS)
Silvia joined Kidz Kabin in April 2015, in the Green Room full time. Working with children for over seven years in various capacities including as a nanny, a nursery nurse and in a school; Silvia brings with her both level 3 and QTS qualifications to the room as well as being bilingual in Romanian and English. Presenting herself as a calm and gentle individual, we are glad to have her on the team. In her spare time, Silvia enjoys reading classic novels and writing short stories.
Ariadna Gallego Loras (QTS)
Originally from Spain, Ariadna qualified in Primary teaching in 2010 and has since amassed several years of experience working in both schools and as a child-minder in Spain and England. Now looking to build up her experience in Early Years, Ariadna joined Kidz Kabin as bank staff in February 2016, before becoming a permanent member of Green Room following the Easter break. A natural with children, Ariadna has an excellent ability to capture and hold children’s attention across all areas of learning. Always with a smile on her face, Ari is a valuable addition to the pre-school team.
Sophia Trenam-Wheatley (Level 3)
Sophia is a woman of many talents. She was inspired to focus her career on children after being employed by Homestart and Surestart charities and seeing at first hand their valuable and inspirational work with mothers and young children. Now she is studying level two childcare and working at Kidz Kabin through an apprenticeship scheme. Alongside all that, Sophia is a freelance illustrator. Having contributed to numerous children’s books, she is now writing and illustrating one of her own.
Gil has gained experience at a variety of youth groups in addition to recently volunteering at Camp America. Describing himself as a “child at heart,” Gil has a very natural and fun approach to engaging with children. Demonstrating a genuine interest to learn more about Early Years, Gil joins the Green Room where his engaging personality is well received by the experienced team, who look forward to supporting him in his continued professional development.
Rachel Evans (QTS in Early Years)
A qualified teacher with extensive experience in Early Years, Rachel was previously working in a North London children's centre prior to joining Kidz Kabin in 2012 as part of the Yellow Room team. Rachel now provides flexible cover across all rooms, utilising her adaptability and natural ability to engage children of all age groups from babies to pre-school.
A Kidz Kabin regular, Talia has been working at the nursery in the Summer holidays for the last 3 years in between reading Primary Education at York St John University. Talia’s energy and positivity is infectious, consistently bringing excellent ideas to the room. She is well loved by children and staff alike and whilst primarily working in the Yellow Room, she has experience across all of the age groups.
Sister of Talia, Mikki began as a volunteer at Kidz Kabin in 2014. She makes a welcome return to the nursery this year, providing cover for the Summer holidays. Mikki is currently studying health and social care, with a view to pursuing a career in Early Years Education at university. A quiet and gentle personality, Mikki supports the Blue Room staff in maintaining the vital nurturing atmosphere in the under 2’s room.
