Communication, language and literacy permeate every aspect of Kidz Kabin and form one of the foundation stones of the positive and independent growth of all children who attend.
Our qualified, experienced and multilingual staff encourage communication right from its nonverbal beginning. Through story circles and independent reading in cosy corners to library trips and bringing literacy to life with our specialist yoga teacher, all children are given plenty of opportunity to develop their communication, language and literacy skills with their peers and teachers.
Physical development is an important part of growing up, everything from the first steps to learning to write. Children at Kidz Kabin have access to a wide range of resources to keep them active indoors and out; from obstacle courses and dance sessions to adventure playground outings and den building in our outdoor space.
We are equally supportive in encouraging the development of fine motor skills, through a variety of activities including drawing and beading, and learning to use tweezers and scissors for the first time.
We build numerous mathematical concepts into all manner of fresh and enjoyable activities. Whether learning about numbers, shapes and colours through songs and active building games (indoors and out!) or in a more focused activity such as flash cards, puzzles and activity sheets, maths is never boring at Kidz Kabin!
A new favourite is our Bee Bot - a programmable robot used to learn about direction, shape and colour.
Kidz Kabin is a fantastic multicultural community and we encourage positive social skills from the youngest babies to the school leavers. With separate spaces for under twos, two to threes and three to fours, children are able to mix with peers of their own age. The under twos naturally have a higher staff ratio, allowing staff to pay particular attention to the subtle personal, social and emotional development at meal, sleep and circle times. The older children enjoy a variety of activities to help build their confidence from show and tell and creative storytelling to exciting role play corners and the highly sociable meal times.
Children (and staff alike!) love the opportunity to get messy with arts and crafts activities. Kidz Kabin has spaces indoors and out and a huge range of resources for painting, chalking, cutting, sticking, clay molding, candle making and much much more!
Arts extends to music which is a big part of daily life at Kidz Kabin. With access to instruments from around the world, including a giant African drum and a 1/8th violin, children can develop their listening and physical skills from a young age. There is a specialist piano teacher who gets all the children dancing and a violinist who plays regularly for the children
At nursery, we like to encourage understanding of every day concepts and challenges in the outside world. To achieve this, we do lots of focussed activities in Kidz Kabin and then go on outings to connect learning to the outside world. In the past, a discussion on healthy eating prompted a trip to the green grocers to buy fruits and vegetables to then explore, discuss and eat back at nursery. Similar ideas have led to trips to the garden centre, local library, nature trails, bakery and post office to name a few. All the while, children are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and actively learn about important concepts such as road safety.
